26 May 2026 NSW Dais meeting

“I am really anxious about public speaking.”

You’re in good company.  The biggest fear for many of us is speaking in front of an audience.   It doesn’t have to be forever.    We learn public speaking skills from practice, teaching and feedback.  Not from a book.  We use fun tasks and games to ease you into public speaking.

“I am too old to learn public speaking.”

It’s never too late.   You will build skills at your own pace.  Even our most experienced speakers are guided by Rostrum coaches.

Can I join more than one club?

Yes.  You can join and attend meetings at more than one club in NSW.

What happens during a Rostrum club meeting?

Each club sets its own agenda.   Each meeting includes all of the following elements

  • Chairman opens the meeting following accepted meeting procedure
  • Warm up exercises
  • Speeches prepared for Rostrum Frontiers Programme
  • Speeches prepared for the Topic of the day
  • Impromptu speeches.  Speech topic given at the time of the meeting
  • Teaching and feedback from the meeting’s coach

Personal benefits of becoming a Rostrum member

  • Make new friends
  • Gain a skill which gives you confidence and belief in what you can do
  • Speak more confidently in front of an audience, at work, job interviews, recording a podcast
  • Learn meeting procedure as followed in many clubs and strata meetings
  • Opportunity to serve the community by volunteering for Rostrum NSW’s biggest undertaking:   the annual Voice of Youth competition.
