Rostrum Voice of Youth 2026
Rostrum’s Student Development Program for Secondary School Students.
Rostrum Voice of Youth is a national speaking competition which provides an excellent opportunity for secondary school students to gain experience and confidence in expressing their views and communicating a message. Students first participate at a regional level. Regional winners go on to participate in the State Final. State winners will compete at the National Final to be held in Sydney.
At every stage of the competition contestants are required to present a
- Prepared speech
- 6 minutes – JUNIORS (aged 11 years or over as at 1/1/26 and in years 7, 8 or 9)
- 8 minutes – SENIORS (under 18 years of age as at 1/1/26 and in years 10, 11 or 12)
- Short notice speech: 3 minutes – (Juniors & Seniors, preparation time of 15 minutes)

Entries
In 2026 entries will be school based. Students who wish to take part please ask your teacher to register you.
Registrations for 2026 have now closed, best wishes to all registered students.
Additional Information
Competitors must use their own, original content. Reference to other texts, AI or direct quotation is allowed, but any speech must be substantially the work of the speaker. How that information is used and the original and creative approach to the topic is important. If plagiarism is suspected, a competitor may be automatically disqualified from the competition.
Entry fee of $10 per student is payable via direct debit (preferable). Invoices will be issued to schools after entries closed on 1 April 2026.
Cash prizes are awarded to Regional Final, State Final and National Final winners. Encouragement Awards will also be presented at the Regional Finals.
