The Metro Evening Rostrum Club 18 provides a relaxed, culturally diverse, friendly environment for all ages and backgrounds to develop skills in communication, leadership, meetings and events so they can grow with confidence. 

The Club meets over a meal on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month after work at the Metropolitan Hotel (opposite the Central Market).

New members and visitors are always welcome to watch and join us whilst we entertain and inform each other whilst practising our public speaking and business meeting skills. We are a mix of novice and experienced speakers who enjoy the company of visitors and new members.

Join us to network, for fellowship or to make new friends, and build your confidence to present, polish your job interview skills and participate in or lead meetings.

Our program is varied to support members’ needs and interests. Our experienced speakers can help you to prepare, and at the end of the evening an experienced Rostrum Coach provides informed, supportive and constructive feedback.

The formula is simple: LEARN – PRACTICE – ENJOY.

What can you expect from Rostrum?

What to expect at the Evening Rostrum Club

Besides a WhatsApp group and hybrid (face to face or zoom meeting attendance) members and visitors have 

• The opportunity after work to find your voice in the friendly and relaxed surroundings of the Metropolitan Hotel over a meal.
• A warm and welcoming group with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds who have trodden, or are treading, the same learning path.
• A mentor, if they choose, to provide ongoing help and guidance.
• Challenges to explore new topics, new methods of communication and new ideas.
• Training experience in:

• • Chairing meetings and club management.
  • Formal speeches – welcome, introduction, thanks, toasts.
• Speaking at short notice.
• The opportunity to create the program or take on a role as secretary, treasurer or president.
• The opportunity to assist and learn about running events like the Speaker of the Year, Voice of the Youth or the annual luncheon.

If you are interested in joining us there is a $30 joining fee and subscriptions are currently $120 per year. On admission you will be provided with a very comprehensive structured learning program. Remember the program can be adapted to each member’s needs.
